New Title, New Cover but still about an Escape from Camp David

The path to a book’s publication is long and winding. For all my friends who have joined with me during this path, you may be confused by my various posts about what seem to be different books with different titles. It’s all the same book, really!

When I first queried my agent, my manuscript had the title of ‘Escape from Camp David’. After the book was purchased by HarperCollins I was thrilled to be asked to write a second book in a middle grade series, and a series title was added: ‘Danger’s Edge’. The actual title was changed to ‘Wildfire at Camp David’. Now even though I am still hard at work on the second book, the series title has been dropped from the cover, the title changed, and the cover has also changed. The new title is ‘Wildfire Run’. If you are as dizzy as me after this paragraph, don’t feel bad. At least I think it’s all set now. Fingers crossed.

  1. Looks like a cool story, something my 10yo (and I!) would like to read. Glad I discovered you on Hillary’s site 🙂

Wow. I saw the title of this post and thought, “but I read that one ages ago.”

    Again with the name change….

BTW – let me know when your schedule would permit an evening of book yakking and dinner….

Over from Hilary’s site, and a new follower. Sounds like a great story…I will look for it when released.

  6. I read your query letter on Chuck’s Writer’s Digest block, and thought the premise sounded great. And now you have a second book out of it. Congratulations!
